Nov. 12, 2009- The final stop on Aveda's national plugged in tour was Toronto, and the star attraction was Antoinette Beenders, VP creative for Aveda and iconic stylist. Over 100 stylists packed into Collega's Toronto offices to see Beenders share her knowledge, alongside the Civello Creative Team and Aveda artists Rudy Miles, Jeffrey Scott and Tristin Morrison.
As part of a cross-Canada educational tour, the Collega/Aveda team visited Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto to present the latest cut, colour and makeup trends. Fourteen artists, from Collega president Ray Civello to Beenders participated in the series.
In Toronto, cut, colour and makeup presentations by Miles, Scott and Morrison were followed by a stage presentation of the latest Aveda collection by the Civello Creative Team made up of Anna Conte, Dylan Sit and Ana Karzis.
After this, Beenders kept the audience riveted with demos of her latest signature cuts, a Kate Bush-inspired texture cut and a punky, androgynous pixie cut. She also detailed her signature look for Project Runway (U.S.) winner Christian Siriano's New York Fashion Week show, and gave us a glimpse into a look created specifically for an Italian Vogue photoshoot.
After this, in-depth classes by each artist/team were held at various locations around the city, including a workshop with Beenders herself, which Sharon attended. The class was an intimate how-to with step-by-step instruction on the season's most fashionable cutting and styling techniques.
